Facebook Test “Call” Button for Video Calling Yet Again

With the thriving interface of Facebook ‘the timeline’, it is keeping it up by testing some new features on it. Facebook launched the ‘video chatting’ feature about a year ago with partnership with Skype. To enable the old ‘Video chatting’ Facebook users just had to install the feature, provided by Skype. It enables the users to video chat within using Facebook by just hitting on the tiny videocamera icon in the text chat window.

However, it did not rise to fame and neither did it attract users whereas Google+ hangouts and newly launched Airtime by the former President of Facebook has attracted several users.  Facebook took the increasing number of Google+ hangouts as well as Airtime as a threat and to compete with them, it introduced a “Call” button on the top of people’s timeline profiles. The “Call” button was first highlight by TechCrunch, it is located next the name of your friends name on their profile and adjacent to the message option. The “Call” button would soon replace the old videocamera icon in the text chat window. According to a report, this “Call” button is a test and Facebook haven’t even decided to keep it as a permanent one.

Facebook video calling doesn’t support group video chat whereas Google+ hangout supports it. So the question is, will Google+ hangout take the lead? Or Facebook is going to attract enough users to compete with Google+ or Airtime? Please share your opinion by commenting below.

I‘m sick of the too many VoIP’s in the market. They claim so much and the output is duuhhh! It doesn’t work for me though! Does anyone know a quality standard VoIP that runs great on my iPhone 3G? Offering great voice quality but cheap Calls to mobile phones and landlines? Works on 3G? Supporting Group Video Calls is a plus as I need to commute for my business purposes. there are lot of group calling apps out in the market but they all have different stories. skype charge to much for group calls. others don’t provide it for multiple users same time like oovoo and fring. just read about friendcaller who provide 7 way group video chat, is it true? here is the reference http://fc.vc/group-video-chat Thank you in advance. Looking forward for help from great people here :)

It's was a shame the first took it off when they introduce the timeline. How are people expected to video call without the button ?
